Position Summary: This position is responsible to operate a flatbed truck to transport fruit bins from one location to another. We are willing to hire a newly licensed CDL driver and train them on straddle trucks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead by example our Blue Star Vision, Mission, and Values
- Be kind and offer solutions
- Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers
- Obey and follow applicable traffic laws
- Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle
- Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations
- Report any defects, accidents and violations immediately
- Perform daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
- Interact with growers/orchardists in a professional manner
- Perform pre-trips vehicle inspection reports
- Record all cargo deliveries
- Verify loads for accuracy
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current Valid CDL
- Ability to communicate fluently in English, including reading, writing and verbal communication.
- Must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and take part in the DOT drug and alcohol program.
Education and Experience:
Required
- CDL Class A License
- Clean Driving Record
Preferred
- Previous experience driving a CDL vehicle
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Expected Hours of Work:
Core business hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These workdays and hours may vary depending on production requirements. Overtime hours may be needed at times to accommodate production requirements
