Job Title: IT Technical Specialist – SAP SCM
Location: Onsite in Waukegan, IL
Period: 03/31/2025 to 03/31/2026
Hours/Week: 40 hours – Hours over 40 will be paid at time and a half
Rate: $85 – $100/hour
Contract Type: W-2 only, no visa sponsorships or subcontracting
Scope of Services:
The IT Technical Specialist will provide in-depth technical expertise and direction in the development and support of client area application systems/programming requirements and processes, including new developments, enhancements, or maintenance. This includes preparing application system specifications and implementing efficient, cost-effective application solutions. The role will specifically focus on SAP SCM (Supply Chain Management), with comprehensive knowledge in Production Planning (PP), Production Execution (PE), and Quality Management (QM).
The IT Technical Specialist will coordinate with external partners and suppliers, lead Requirements Gathering Workshops for project scoping and estimates, and execute highly complex, specialized global projects. The role may require adapting existing precedents and making significant departures from traditional approaches to develop innovative solutions.
The role is responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. The specialist will manage technical configuration, code reviews, solution testing, user training, and hypercare support. The IT Technical Specialist will also serve as a technical expert or project/program lead to develop, test, and implement new solutions or improvements, and devise new approaches to problems at the division/business unit level.
The specialist will conduct investigative activities and research, providing technical advice on the adoption or integration of new technologies and their business impact. This includes reviewing, validating, and enhancing designs, conducting performance monitoring, capacity planning, testing, and upgrades of releases and associated products. The role will also involve evaluating and recommending new software, utilities, and tools to optimize SAP SCM functionality.
Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:
- Lead Requirements Gathering Workshops: Facilitate scoping sessions for SAP SCM processes (PP, PE, QM), ensuring all business needs are captured and estimated accurately.
- Configuration and Testing: Perform SAP SCM configurations and lead testing efforts to ensure solutions meet business requirements. Oversee and validate performance of SAP SCM processes.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership during project execution, collaborating with business and technical teams to implement SAP SCM solutions effectively.
- System Optimization and Support: Review system performance, conduct capacity planning, and ensure optimization of SAP SCM processes, including PP, PE, and QM.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate business processes through the SAP SCM module and recommend improvements. Advise on best practices and implement innovative solutions.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to integrate SAP SCM solutions into the business.
- Documentation: Deliver all necessary project documentation, including Change Requests, testing plans, system validation documents, and other required materials.
- Training and Hypercare: Conduct user training and provide hypercare support following SAP SCM solution implementation to ensure smooth transition and adoption.
Experience & Skills:
- SAP SCM Expertise: At least 10-13 years of experience with SAP SCM, including Production Planning (PP), Production Execution (PE), and Quality Management (QM).
- Healthcare Industry Experience: Preference for experience in the healthcare industry, particularly within GxP-regulated environments.
- Problem-Solving: Strong root cause analysis and problem resolution skills.
- Leadership: Experience managing cross-functional teams in a technical role with the ability to lead complex SAP SCM projects.
- Collaboration: Strong collaboration and partnering skills, with the ability to work effectively with business and technical teams as well as external vendors.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate complex technical ideas in easy-to-understand business terms for senior leaders.
- Process Management: Strong understanding of process costs, and ability to work with service providers to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to service levels.
- Results-Oriented: Ability to accomplish results through others, establishing strong relationships and ensuring operational deliverables are met.
Education & Certifications:
- Degree: A degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or a complementary field is required.
- Certifications: Relevant SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate) are a plus. Certifications in project management or relevant areas (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are desirable.
