Position Overview
The Inventory and Quality Control Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of all inventory within our Blue Whale Enterprises. This position will be responsible for maintaining precise inventory records, conducting regular quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with state cannabis regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficient with Biotrack and experience in inventory management and/or quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management (Back of House)
- Maintain accurate inventory records of raw materials, finished (packaged) products, and packaging supplies.
- Perform regular inventory counts, including physical audits, to ensure consistency with Digital and BioTrack records
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking to prevent shortages or overages.
- Track product movement across production, packaging, storage, distribution.
- Utilize inventory spreadsheets and state tracking software to update and analyze inventory data.
- Work alongside inventory specialist in our on-site retail store.
Quality Control
- Inspect incoming packaging, and finished products for accuracy, quality and compliance.
- Perform spot checks during production to ensure product consistency and adherence to specifications. This includes checking packaged products for quality and expiration date
- Document quality control procedures and create SOPs and findings to support product improvement.
- Ensure all products meet internal standards and state-mandated cannabis regulations.
- Work with the production team to identify and address quality issues promptly.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all inventory and quality processes comply with state and local cannabis regulations.
- Track batch numbers, lot numbers, and product labels for traceability and reporting.
- Assist in preparing for state inspections and audits.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the production, packaging, retail staff, and warehouse teams to streamline workflows and ensure efficiency.
- Communicate quality or inventory discrepancies to relevant departments for resolution.
- Assist with training staff on proper inventory handling and in inventory management, quality assurance, or a related role; experience in the cannabis or vape industry is a plus.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g.,BioTrack) Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with state cannabis regulations, product testing standards, and compliance requirements.
- Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
