POSITION PURPOSE:
This position oversees the expansion and capacity growth of Bluebird’s network domain. Primary responsibilities will center around IP/MPLS and ROADM Optical networks though the use of Element Management Systems, Operational Support Systems and direct access to Network Elements. This position requires the ability to analyze complex networks and related data to determine the best plans for network expansion and growth.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Technical Degree, preferred
- Degree or Certification in Computer Science or like, Networking related or Systems Architecture related, preferred
- 3 years’ experience in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, ISP Engineering, Data Analysis or related fields
- IPv4 route and Ethernet switch fundamentals
- MPLS and EVPN implementation experience
- IPv6 comprehension and implementation experience
- Optical ROADM/CDC/Grid-less Optical networking implementation experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Data analytics abilities – For forecasting traffic, routing changes, ingress/egress points.
- IP Traffic management experience – Reporting and forecasting
- Ability to think and plan long term – Must have vision for long term evolution
- Bridge technology and business – be able to understand and explain network concepts to non-technical people
- Innovation – Bluebird Fiber is growing tremendously and needs “big thinkers”

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLILITES:

Subject Matter Expert in multiple Network Management Systems
- Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP)
- Adtran Element / Mosaic Network Controller (ENC / MNC)
- Ekinops Celestis
- Use NMS expertise and the systems’ data to perform Capacity Planning functions
- IP/MPLS network Traffic Engineering to optimize network and customer experience
- Optical network demand and forecast planning for strategic growth and optimization
- Automate routine functions though the use of Network Management Systems
- Maintain data rich network dashboards for internal network performance metrics to support the planning process
- Assess data and develop Network Planning Projects for IP/MPLS network capacity and routing
- Use analytic tools available (Kentik, NSP, IP Looking Glass, etc.) to perform capacity planning
- Analize and understand IP traffic, router policies and eBGP routing at the Internet borders of Bluebird’s network to ensure the best external connectivity to Bluebird’s network, achieving optimal performance
- Analize and understand IP traffic, router policies and OSPF routing internal to Bluebird’s network to achieve optimal performance
- Proficiently utilize Bluebird’s Network and Operational Support Systems for Network Planning purposes
- Network modeling and equipping in Circuit Vision Network
- Navigation and understanding of Circuit Vision Fiber and Circuit Vision Ticketing
- Information analysis and issuing Network Planning Projects into workflow though Salesforce
- Navigation and understanding of Microsoft Business Central for information gathering related to Capital and Expense projects
- Develop Automation Projects for Bluebird in conjunction with the peer teams to assist in the continued development of our systematic and automatic processes
