Job description

I. JOB SUMMARY

The role of the mobile Medical Assistant (MA) at Bluebird Health is an instrumental position supporting the organization’s mission of providing life changing service. We do this by helping our patients to “Find Home” as they navigate the complex medical system. All MAs at Bluebird Health are responsible for providing competent, cost-effective, timely and high quality health care services that are within their scope of practice.

II. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Under the supervision of the ordering Provider, effectively deliver the responsibilities and associated operational responsibilities of a 24/7 mobile medical clinic.

2. Maintain performance and productivity standards, operational efficiency, excellent customer service and best practice standards.

3. Coordinate care for patients including arrangement for hospital admission, lab services, referral to specialist, home health or hospice, diagnostic tests, etc.

4. Maintain compliance with the established standards of practice for MAs in state of practice.

5. Prioritize workload and utilize work time properly and productively.

6. Document findings and actions appropriately in the patient’s medical record.

7. Create and update patient charts including all related reports, labs, medical records, orders, etc.

8. Interview patients and POAs/caregivers and record responses accurately. This may include, but is not limited to, patient’s demographics and insurance information, patient’s current symptoms, medical history, risk factors, relevant concerns, medication lists, list of current and past Providers, etc.

9. Schedule and coordinate for patient visits and prepare Provider notes prior to visit date.

10. Assist with completion of forms needed by patient, insurance, community partners and Providers.

11. Authorize medication refills as directed by Provider.

12. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

13. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional licenses/certificates.

14. Maintain safe work environment for self, patient, family and staff by using appropriate PPE.

15. Work collaboratively with Finding Home team members and community partners such as ALF and SNF staff members, patient family members and home health and hospice team members.

16. Serve as a communication liaison between the patient, referral sources, and the licensed clinician.

17. Represent Finding Home in a professional manner and strive to promote a cooperative atmosphere at all times by acting with tact and diplomacy and maintaining a positive attitude.

18. Maintain professionalism at all times by being dependable, autonomous and responsible.

19. Be humble and possess the ability to accept criticism and/or discipline.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Graduate from a formal program in medical assisting preferred, but not required in all circumstances.

2. Requires high school diploma or the equivalent.

3. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.

4. Maintain a current and valid driver’s license, have access to a reliable form of transportation and be willing to drive in various weather conditions.

5. Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with retail and medical partners at various levels, patients, family members, physicians and representatives of the community.

6. Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.

7. Must be able to operate electronic medical record (within given training period).

8. Must have basic computer skills/office skills including, but not limited to: typing, creating documents, operating fax/copy machine, placing and receiving phone calls.

9. Must have working knowledge of healthcare field, common medical names, terms and practices.

10. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Experience:

  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
