Position Description
Bluebird Kids Health is seeking a dynamic Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist (Field and Onsite) to drive growth and patient acquisition by building strong relationships with healthcare providers and community organizations throughout Palm Beach County. This role, reporting to the Director of Growth, plays a vital role in connecting families with high-quality pediatric care. The Community Outreach & Engagement Specialist will develop and strengthen referral partnerships with providers, community groups, and government agencies while directly engaging with prospective families. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, a knack for community building, and a proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. They are deeply passionate about breaking down barriers to care, forging trusted community relationships, and ensuring every child – no matter their circumstances – has access to the exceptional pediatric care they deserve.
This individual will split their time across two primary functions:
- Field Based Community Engagement: Representing Bluebird Kids Health in the community, attending and hosting events, distributing materials, and identifying creative ways to build connections that drive awareness and patient growth
- Prospective Member Outreach: Working from our CARES Center, conducting proactive telephonic outreach to prospective families identified through community outreach or other channels
This role requires flexibility, with time spent in the field and at the CARES Center varying based on business needs. On average, the role will involve approximately 50% field-based engagement and 50% outreach from the CARES Center, though this may shift depending on priorities and community opportunities.
What You’ll Do
Field Based Community Engagement
- Cultivate partnerships with OB/GYNs, hospitals, daycares, community resource groups, religious organizations, schools, and government agencies to drive referrals and grow our patient base
- Represent Bluebird Kids Health at community events such as health fairs, workshops, baby showers, and coalition meetings, educating attendees about our services, facilitating referrals, and scheduling new patient appointments
- Maintain detailed records of partnerships, event participation, referrals, and outreach efforts to measure impact and refine strategies
- Apply a process-driven approach to facilitate the logistics of converting interest and referrals into scheduled appointments, ensuring a seamless, consistent, and efficient experience
Prospective Member Outreach
- Conduct proactive outreach to prospective families to encourage them to join Bluebird Kids Health, via telephone, SMS, or other digital modes
- Engage with leads generated through marketing campaigns, referrals, and community events, providing information on our services and guiding them through the enrollment process
- Provide exceptional customer service and patient education, addressing any concerns or questions patients may have about their care
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with the Growth team by sharing real-time community insights, feedback, and outreach learnings to optimize marketing strategies and drive engagement
- Work closely with other members of the Community Outreach team and the CARES Center team to ensure smooth patient onboarding
- Collaborate with clinical teams to understand patient needs and ensure that outreach efforts align with care plans and clinical priorities
- Assist in identifying barriers to care and develop strategies to address them, improving patient engagement and health outcomes
What You’ll Need
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in sales, community building, or contact center, demonstrating a proven ability to establish and maintain relationships
- A self-starter approach, driven to build community connections, and passionate about connecting children to high-quality care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to initiate conversations and build connections quickly
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a passion for working in a fast-growing, mission-driven organization
- Excellent organization and time-management skills to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Comfortable using technology platforms, including EHRs, CRMs, and digital engagement tools
- Flexibility to travel throughout South Florida and availability for some evening/weekend work
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole is strongly preferred
- Experience in healthcare, social services, or childhood education is strongly preferred
