Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting the operations of a non-profit government contractor by ensuring the upkeep, functionality, and safety of all facilities and equipment. This position requires technical expertise in performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of building systems and equipment. The Maintenance Technician will also support facility projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and organizational policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly, addressing issues related to lighting, heating, cooling, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of maintenance and storage areas.
- Support the setup, breakdown, and reconfiguration of workspaces for organizational needs.
- Perform minor construction or renovation tasks, such as painting, drywall repair, and carpentry.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and organizational policies.
- Assist in maintaining records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Work closely with the Director, Facilities and other staff to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or large-scale maintenance projects.
- Provide input on facilities improvement plans and maintenance budgeting.
- Respond to facility emergencies, such as power outages, leaks, or equipment failures, to minimize disruptions to operations.
- Be available for on-call support as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic computer skills for work order management and recordkeeping.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
- Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing building systems and equipment.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, such as climbing ladders, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to see, hear and maneuver around various building equipment settings.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor settings and confined spaces.
