Role Overview
The Transportation Supervisor manages day-to-day operations for CDL drivers and logistics at a designated site as yard work. This role is responsible for scheduling, supervising, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. The Transportation Supervisor also manages route planning, monitors performance metrics, and coordinates with other departments to ensure efficient transportation services. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities of CDL drivers, including routing, and timely delivery of goods.
- Develop and manage schedules for drivers to ensure optimal use of resources and on-time deliveries.
- Supervise and provide guidance to CDL drivers, fostering a safe, compliant, and productive working environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, address any performance issues, and provide coaching or training as necessary.
- Ensure all CDL drivers follow safety protocols and maintain compliance with DOT and company policies.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of driver logs, vehicle conditions, and site safety practices.
- Investigate and document any incidents, accidents, or violations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with dispatchers, warehouse teams, and other departments to coordinate loading and unloading processes.
- Monitor delivery and pickup schedules to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, business, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse management or a similar role.
- CDL-A License is required.
- Ability to communicate clearly with drivers, dispatch, and management.
- Flexible and responsive to unexpected changes in schedule or logistics.
- Capable of resolving operational issues quickly and efficiently.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
