Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Billing and Collection Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing accounts receivable and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. This position requires excellent communication skills, computer literacy , and the ability to analyze accounts effectively. One must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines daily, respect HIPPA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. As a Collection Agent, you will work closely with clients and insurance companies to resolve payment issues while maintaining positive relationships.
Duties
- Contact clients via phone and email to follow up on overdue accounts and negotiate payment arrangements.
- Checking patients’ insurance benefits online and by phone.
- Interactions will be necessary with patients, medical offices and insurance companies .
- Work closely with the scheduling department.
- Consistently check schedules for add-on patients.
- Obtain pre-authorizations for patients.
- Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions related to collections.
- Entering electronic payments and paper payment from patients and insurance companies, offset balances, appeal denied claims and resolve rejected claims with the clearinghouse.
- Analyze account statements to identify discrepancies and resolve issues related to debits and credits.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure accurate account management and reporting.
- Identify insurance payment and denied claims trends.
- Submit billing charges for providers at times.
- Provide exceptional customer service while handling sensitive financial information.
- Educate clients on financial concepts related to their accounts, including the importance of timely payments.
- Assist in coding transactions accurately for proper accounting practices.
- Claims submission and patient statement management via clearinghouse.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for reviewing account histories and identifying trends.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software applications relevant to financial management.
