Responsibility & Authority:

The Team Lead is responsible for participating in and leading day-to-day warehouse activities. The Lead is also responsible for meeting production goals, setting a positive example for team members at all times and for training and certifying new inspectors, forklift operators and other team members as assigned on the correct processes and work instructions and for understanding and teaching according to Bluegrass’ mission, vision and value standards. The Lead is responsible for ensuring that adequate tools and supplies are on hand and assists the supervisor in monitoring time and attendance. The Lead also works with the supervisor also continually develop, mentor and build meaningful relationships with team members, working to providing positive and corrective feedback where appropriate. The Lead maintains 5S at all times and works with the Supervisor to hold each team member accountable for favorable or unfavorable performance.  

Requirements

Minimum Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):

  •  Lead and continually develop teams members
  •  Support and assist with cause investigations and track corrective action with Human Resources
  •  Ensure that safety, delivery and quality standards are being met at all times
  •  Maintain professional communication with customers and team members
  •  Communicate supply and material needs in order to ensure efficiencies
  •  Identify proper channels of escalation and communicate needs when needed
  •  Track attendance of the team members
  •  Prepare and deliver accurate shift reports to the designated group following each shift
  •  Coach and monitor discipline for team members
  •  Solid understanding of manufacturing or warehousing processes and demands
  •  Strong problem solving skills
  •  Ability to work well under pressure while managing customer demands and deadlines
  •  Experience managing teams in a production or warehouse environment
  •  Experience with a broad variety of inspection, production or warehouse techniques
  •  Ability to train new team members on all aspects within our facility
  •  Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances
  •  Own assignments and be self-accountable
  •  Hold team members accountable for performance
  •  Communicate clearly with strong written and verbal skills
  •  Knowledge of MS office programs with strong knowledge of Excel
  •  Able to perform repetitious duties while standing for long periods of time (up to 12 or more hours per shift)
  •  Create, read and understand detailed instructions and follow multi-step processes
  •  Understand and train on detailed instructions
  •  Identify, correct, and report any potential safety hazards in the facility
  •  Work independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function
  •  Available for overtime as needed
  •  Read and understand sequences and detailed instructions while maintaining accurate and legible records
  •  Assist in all work stations
  •  Communicate ideas and issues to the Supervisor in a timely and professional manner using both written and verbal communication skills
  •  Clean-up work area during and following each shift
  •  Identify nonconforming materials and parts in writing
  •  Breakdown/tag any items identified as nonconforming
  •  Complete assigned tasks within required times
  •  Organize and stock materials during and following each shift
  •  Adaptable to change
  •  Reliable, punctual, possess strong initiative, committed and quality focused

Essential Functions:

  •  Participate in pre and post-shift meetings with each applicable shift
  •  Read and train on SQDCM boards daily to ensure understanding priorities
  •  Actively listen and consistently explore and collaborate with Manager regarding new opportunities to add value for our customer

Physical Demands:

A Team Lead can work in any range of environments, from a climate-controlled space to a warehouse or production floor where temperatures can vary from extreme cold to extreme heat. Supervisors must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours) on unpadded floors and will continuously be required to bend, reach overhead, crouch, kneel, push/pull and grasp. Additionally, Team Leads will routinely be required to lift or carry up to 30 - 50 lbs. Eye/hand coordination and repetitive use of both hands/arms is required. Exposure to chemical hazards, electrical hazards, sharp objects/tools, noise and vibration are anticipated.


Tools and/or Equipment Used:

  • Excel, Outlook and Word skills
  • Mirrors, flashlights, micrometers, tape measures, dyes, paints, chemical cleaners, rulers, gauges, micrometers, calipers, hand tools, power tools, air tools, steel toed footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and any other tools and equipment required per customer request.

Education:

High School Diploma is required.


Work Experience:

At least 1 – 3 years of experience, or equivalent, in Automotive Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
