Bluegrass Dedicated is seeking a motivated and results-driven Freight Broker to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating freight shipments by connecting shippers with carriers, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring timely deliveries. This role requires excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to drive business growth and maintain strong relationships with customers and carriers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with shippers, carriers, and other supply chain partners.
- Source, negotiate, and secure competitive freight rates with carriers.
- Coordinate and oversee shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring on-time performance.
- Track and monitor shipments, resolving any issues or delays promptly.
- Maintain compliance with all transportation regulations and industry best practices.
- Use freight management software and load boards to identify and book available freight.
- Generate and manage contracts, agreements, and documentation for freight transactions.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve disputes, and provide exceptional service to clients.
- Analyze market trends to optimize pricing strategies and improve profit margins.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure efficient logistics operations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred).
- Experience in Freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation industry.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating freight rates and managing shipping operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, freight classifications, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop.com).
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
