Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Supervisor to lead and oversee our fleet operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the trucking industry, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with McLeod Transportation Management Software (TMS) or similar systems is essential. A strong sense of individual and team accountability is crucial for success in this role. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in load planning to optimize freight operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fleet Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of fleet operations, including safety, dispatching, planning, maintenance, and compliance.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of fleet dispatchers and planners to achieve operational excellence.
- Operational Oversight: Ensure timely and efficient delivery of services by optimizing fleet utilization.
- Load Planning Coordination: Strategically plan and organize freight loads to maximize efficiency and profitability while meeting customer requirements.
- TMS Proficiency: Utilize McLeod TMS or similar Transportation Management Systems for planning, tracking, and managing fleet operations.
- Driver Communication: Foster effective communication channels between dispatchers, planners, drivers, and other stakeholders to address issues promptly.
- Route Optimization: Oversee the planning of efficient routes to maximize productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Problem-Solving: Address operational challenges proactively and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and transportation regulations.
- Customer Relations: Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and ensure high levels of service delivery.
- Performance Management: Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Accountability: Promote a culture of accountability within the team, emphasizing individual responsibility and collaborative success.
- Budget Management: Manage fleet budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in fleet management with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role within the trucking industry.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Load Planning Expertise: Proven experience in load planning and freight optimization.
- TMS Proficiency: Extensive experience with McLeod TMS or similar Transportation Management Systems.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Multitasking Ability: Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Accountability: Strong sense of individual and team accountability, with a track record of owning responsibilities and driving team success.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient with fleet management software and standard office applications.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
