Veterinary Assistant: Full-Time Position

Veterinary Assistants help the technicians, doctors, and client service representatives in all duties of the hospital. Veterinary Assistants provide for the constant cleanliness of the hospital, as well as all patients. Veterinary Assistants are responsible for the daily care of our patients, including walking, feeding, recording vital signs & appetite, and other information as directed.
Veterinary Assistants are required to assist the doctors and technicians with restraint and other responsibilities according to individual abilities and training. Assistants must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, able to multi-task. Punctuality is a must.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Gentle and compassionate care for patients
- Restrain patients for procedures performed by doctors and technicians
- Maintain a professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude
- Stocking hospital supplies
- Client education
- Assist Client Service Representatives
- General cleaning of public and employee areas of the hospital
- Housekeeping and laundry duties
- Keeping patients and cages clean
- Intake and discharge patients
- Ability to work patiently with clients in varying emotional states
- Observation of signs of illness and recognize abnormal conditions
- Carry out oral and written directions from doctors and technicians
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Able to lift unassisted up to 40lbs
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
