SQL Server / Cosmos DBE
RemoteBluehawk Consulting is seeking an experienced Contract Database Engineer to join our team to build and configure a Cosmos database solution that will handle marketing data and related processes.
Project Overview
This role will involve working with Azure Cosmos DB, integrating marketing data from platforms like Salesforce (SF) and advertising channels, and optimizing data pipelines for AI integration.You will be responsible for automating tasks related to database management, data migration, and patching processes, with a focus on maintaining data integrity and efficiency. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in NoSQL databases, particularly Azure Cosmos DB, and experience with marketing data management.
Responsibilities
Cosmos DB Configuration & Development:
- Design, build, and configure Azure Cosmos DB to store and process marketing data (including Salesforce, ads, and other marketing sources).
- Architect scalable and efficient database solutions tailored to the needs of marketing data workflows.
- Perform data migration from existing marketing data sources to Cosmos DB while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Marketing Data Integration:
- Work closely with marketing teams to understand data requirements and translate them into structured database solutions.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines that integrate data from Salesforce, advertising platforms, and other relevant marketing systems into Cosmos DB.
Automation & Optimization:
- Automate tasks for routine database management, including patching, backups, and performance tuning.
- Implement processes that reduce manual intervention and increase operational efficiency.
- Use SQL to automate the patching and maintenance of the database environment.
AI Integration:
- Work with AI teams to enable the use of marketing data in machine learning and predictive analytics models.
- Implement data structures that optimize Cosmos DB for AI applications, ensuring fast querying and data access for AI models.
Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Continuously monitor the performance of the Cosmos DB and optimize queries and indexing to ensure quick response times and minimal latency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues related to performance, scalability, and security.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise:
- Strong experience with Azure Cosmos DB (NoSQL), including its configuration, scaling, and optimization.
- Proficient in SQL with experience automating database tasks such as patching, backups, and performance tuning.
- Experience integrating marketing data from Salesforce, advertising platforms, and other external systems into a centralized database.
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments, particularly Azure services and tools.
Programming & Scripting:
- Experience writing and executing scripts for data migration and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize complex data processes.
AI & Machine Learning:
- Understanding of how to prepare and structure marketing data for AI-driven projects (e.g., predictive analytics, customer segmentation, recommendation systems).
- Knowledge of how Cosmos DB can be used to support AI applications, including large data volumes and fast querying.
Collaboration:
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, data engineering, and AI specialists.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with marketing data specifically in the context of CRM systems (Salesforce) and advertising platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.).
- Familiarity with other Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure Machine Learning.
- Experience with data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

Salary Range for this position: $139,000 - $154,500
