Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist plays a key role in driving efficiency, quality, and cost reduction initiatives within our Bakery manufacturing operations. This role focuses on identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing lean manufacturing principles to maximize productivity while minimizing waste, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the production floor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyze production processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other CI initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues.
- Train and engage employees in continuous improvement methodologies at all levels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain, to optimize overall operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and food production standards while driving efficiency.
- Research and recommend new technologies or equipment to enhance production capabilities.
- Support cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality and consistency.
- Assist plant teams with goal setting and performance tracking for continuous improvement measures.
- Select and recommend appropriate continuous improvement tools to increase line capacity.
- Provide technical insight and representation for the value stream, addressing unplanned line losses.
- Utilize Lean/Six Sigma tools and the DMAIC process to execute projects with measurable annual savings.
- Establish control plans to ensure that process improvements are sustainable over time.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and sustain process improvements.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 3 years of experience in a continuous improvement or process improvement role, preferably in food manufacturing (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with data analysis, process mapping, and problem-solving techniques.
- Proactive and hands-on approach to identifying and solving production challenges.
- Strong attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead projects and influence teams without direct authority.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Passion for efficiency, quality, and innovation in food production.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Recent graduates with a degree in Engineering or Manufacturing who have a strong interest in manufacturing analysis, productivity efficiencies, and process improvements are encouraged to apply.
