What are the responsibilities and job description for the Directional Drill Operator position at Bluerock Underground?
Bluerock Underground provides underground directional drilling, excavating and underground utility installation to internet service providers, gas pipeline operators, and other utilities.
Overview:
We are currently looking for a full-time directional drill operator to join our team. Most employees work four consecutive days, followed by a three-day weekend. Regional travel is required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Effectively operate directional drill.
- Ability to read customer provided blueprints.
- Understanding of utility markings and effectively navigate existing utilities without damage.
- Use a company smart phone app to clock in and out of assigned jobs daily.
- Drive company vehicles to and from job sites as required.
- Perform recommended daily drill maintenance as required.
Job Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification.
- 1 - 3 years’ experience in the same or similar industry.
- Communicates professionally, respectfully, and honestly at all times.
- Travel required.
- This position requires a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The general work environment is a field environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Sit for long periods of time (up to an entire workday) while operating equipment, including the constant use of hand and foot controls.
- Lift, place materials, stand, walk, turn, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, crouch, speak and hear continuously.
- Lift up to 100lbs.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, gloves, etc.
- Be safety and customer-focused, without exception.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug screening. Employees are required to participate in random, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing as requested.
