Summary

They will review any internal change request by the quality department and ensure the changes meet the customer requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To
- Lead/manage projects/teams to improve operations in the melt shop to drive continuous improvement of our quality-related metrics.
- Define and document Standard Operating Procedures and modified processes.
- Hands on interaction with team members and support the team leaders as needed.
- Act as a technical resource for EAF operations and represent North Star BlueScope Steel during customer visits and audits.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis of process-related defects and effects on final products.
- Interact with maintenance to implement process improvements and efficiencies to meet overall production needs.
- Remain proactively involved in developing the operating parameters along with implementation of operational enhancements and improvement projects.
- Manage communication of quality issues to the business/ coordinate teams to work on resolution.
- Support laboratory investigations for claims and customer requested investigations and coordinate responses to customer corrective actions in a timely fashion.
- Contribute to process improvements based on detailed analysis of quality parameters data and collaboration with outside technical resources and organizations.
- Provide technical support to operations by spending time on the floor learning processes, troubleshooting, and leading and/or participating on multiple process improvement teams.
- Identify and work to remove barriers that slow or prevent successful attainment of process improvement project goals.
- Manage process data collection and analysis as part of project tracking and completion.
- Assist with establishing and tracking key operational metrics.
- Act as a technical resource for Technical Service Engineers and Inside/Outside Sales.
- Knowledge of quality systems and experience with compliance for ISO Standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy/Materials Engineering or in a Related Field.
- 3 years' proven track record of leading safety, quality, and process improvement teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Exceptional data analysis skills with a firm grasp of physics, including thermodynamics.
- Strong Root Cause Analysis and Failure Analysis.
- Work with individuals at all levels of the organization and utilize the internal knowledge base to solve technical problems.
- Demonstrated success in problem-solving and the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Experience in articulating and presenting analytical findings to audiences with different levels of technical expertise.
- Working knowledge of steel products and steel manufacturing process.
- Proven decision-making skills which include strong quantitative and analytical skills, strong statistical, mathematical background, and computer literacy.
- Critical thinking skills to understand the strategic direction of the business and weigh the economic cost benefit of projects.
- Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing methodologies and problem-solving techniques including Kaizen, 5S and 6s.
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills.
- Proficient in the advanced features of Microsoft Office products: Word and Excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience in raw materials logistics and offloading.
- Raw materials sampling and testing.
- Proven project management skills in leading multiple projects at various levels.
- Leadership experience in working with and leading cross functional teams.
- Certifications in Six Sigma Green Belt or above from a recognized lean source.
- Experience with the Value In Use approach for Continuous Improvement.
- Proficiency with statistical and flow charting/process mapping software.

- Pay based on experience and education
- Weekly bonus payout: up to 63% of base hourly rate x hours worked per week.
