Job Title: Construction Inspector
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to oversee multiple fiber construction projects across various markets. In this role, you will ensure all outside plant (OSP) construction activities—including underground and aerial infrastructure, fiber placement, and splicing—meet project specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations. You’ll play a critical role in delivering reliable, high-speed internet to growing communities, working closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful and timely execution of all construction work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure fiber construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Conduct daily site inspections and audits to verify compliance with company policies, safety protocols, local regulations, and industry best practices.
- Monitor construction activities such as excavation, trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, grounding, splicing, and site restoration.
- Supervise third-party contractors, ensuring safety, quality workmanship, proper cleanup, and positive community engagement.
- Maintain detailed records of construction progress including photos, measurements, reports, and as-built documentation.
- Identify field issues, analyze potential solutions, and recommend corrective actions to maintain project timelines and quality.
- Serve as the community liaison for questions, concerns, or issues related to construction impacts, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution.
- Ensure proper documentation is collected and transferred to engineering teams for integration into the fiber management system.
- Track contractor performance with weekly reports and vendor scorecards; hold regular performance review meetings.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety, addressing any violations or concerns promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve project issues and ensure smooth execution.
- Proactively identify risks and anticipate construction delays, ensuring continuity of work and alignment with overall goals.
- Assess site conditions, including environmental factors and existing infrastructure, to verify construction readiness.
- Prepare and submit accurate project updates, milestone reports, and inspection summaries.
