Benefits
New management full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following the first day of full-time employment.
Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.
Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.
All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.
Position Overview
As a leader of the Landscape Maintenance Team, the Landscape Division Manager coordinates daily operations of the landscape maintenance staff, meeting or exceeding established standards for team member satisfaction, guest satisfaction, sales, and financial performance. This position reports to the Director of Landscape Operations.
Key Responsibilities
This position works in both a professional indoor office environment, as well as outdoors.

Key Responsibilities
- Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSGR) to support the achievement of company goals.
- Supervise and approve all human resources decisions made by the Landscape Superintendents.
- Coach and support the development of the Landscape Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
- Identify plants within the community, determine plant stress or plant health, and become aware of the landscaping needs of the grounds throughout the year to understand daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal tasks.
- Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned.Make sure all team members are using equipment and safety gear appropriately.
- Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor.
- Proactive in developing long-range plans for the division to facilitate the continual delivery of exceptional service to the marketplace and profit contributions to the company.
- Oversee monthly activities and seasonal planning at all communities.
- Interview, hire, coach, and assist in the development and training of superintendent and maintenance staff, including job prep, ordering materials through the purchasing department, and safety orientation and training.
- Effectively communicate weekly and monthly operations and tasks to staff.
- Directly supervise staff by carrying out responsibilities in accordance with BlueStar Landscape policies and procedures, including planning, assigning, and at times, performing activities of workers supervised.Communicate the goals and objectives of BlueStar Resort & Golf to existing team and new team members.
- Maintain open communication between clients and landscape maintenance staff.
- Accept the responsibilities of personal decisions and actions.
- Identify and recognize success and communicate positive employee performance to responsible persons.
- Oversee major equipment procural requests.
- Monitor maintenance and repair of equipment to ensure proper operation; purchase parts and materials as needed.Communicate equipment issues to staff, to ensure timely completion of job tasks if equipment breaks down.
- Must be familiar with budgeting, payroll and purchasing; monitor expenses.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape, Horticulture, Agronomy or similar field preferred.
- Five years’ related experience and/or training in related field.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of landscape maintenance through references and work history.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Have a knowledge of native and desert adapted plants, trimming, pruning techniques, plant health, and water needs.
- Previous experience working in a Homeowners Association preferred.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret as-builts, reports, plans, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory documents.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as calibration rates, proportions, percentages and volume; read budgets and interpret numbers.
- Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer services skills and an ability to respond to the needs and requests of coworkers and clients.
- Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
- Valid driver’s license is required.

The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, and falls.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to Arizona desert wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bobcats, javelinas, etc.
- There may be occasional exposure to precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can vary depending on the equipment or machines used.
- Employees are required to wear all assigned personal protective equipment.
