Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Life Enrichment Associate is to assist the Recreational Therapist in developing, implementing, and coordinating a participant-centered activity program designed to meet the physical, mental and psychosocial needs of participants.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises and implements activities that are stimulating, engaging, and provides socialization for those 55 and older in our Day Center or Alternative Care Setting.
- Maintains close contact with participants to ensure that their social, emotional, and spiritual needs are being met.
- Assists participants with individual and group activities including but not limited to arts and crafts, exercise, games, music events, bingo, baking, trivia, and holiday events.
- Stays informed about current federal, state and professional regulations and standards, and assists in developing policies and procedures when necessary.
- Assists in completing required paperwork for each resident and maintains records as required by State and Federal regulations.
- Maintains daily and monthly evaluations of residents participation in activities.
- Reads and follows care plans used in providing daily activities for the participants.
- Document care in the participants medical record consistent with documentation policies and workflows.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Prefer high school diploma or GED.
- Must have prior experience working with the elderly within an activity program.
- Must be able to work with participants at all levels of mental and physical functioning.
- Must demonstrate patience and a cheerful disposition with participants, staff, and visitors.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
