Position Overview:
Come join Bluestone as a Health Information Technician! Responsibilities include but are not limited to: taking incoming calls from facilities and outside vendors, managing internal and external release requests via multiple request platforms (e.g., fax, email, phone, Bluestone Bridge, and EHR messaging), uploading information into electronic patient files, working with payer chart audits, sending of visit summaries to facilities, and requesting outside patient records. All of these job functions and others must be completed while maintaining proper HIPAA guidelines. This position will support each of Bluestone's markets.
Schedule: Full-time position, day shift hours, no evenings, weekends or holidays. Hours are 8am to 5pm Monday thru Thursday & 8am to 3pm on Fridays.
Location: Remote
Salary: $18-21/hr. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Completes internal and external requests for medical records
- Obtains new patient medical history
- Uses internal patient portal to communicate with providers, family, and community members
- Upholds quality standards by following HIPAA guidelines.
- Retains work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Enhances medical records and clinic reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Education/Certification/Experience
- Health Information Management (HIM) certification preferred
- 1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare field preferred
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Must have strong organizational, customer service, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and technical skills
- Skill in identifying and resolving problems
- Proficient at verbal and written communication
- Ability to work independently to meet company goals and timelines
- Ability to deal with change and ambiguity
