Blue Strike Environmental seeks an innovative and analytical professional to join our Energy and Climate Team as a Technical Analyst . This position is key to delivering data-driven insights, advanced modeling, and impactful strategies that help our clients reduce carbon footprints, optimize energy efficiency, and build resilience. Reporting to the Team Director, this hybrid position offers the flexibility to work remotely or from our offices in Monterey, CA, or Boston, MA.

The Energy and Climate Team works with clients to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and develop renewable energy strategies. Our expertise includes climate-related strategy work, financial and economic due diligence for renewable projects, regulatory consulting, and creating policies for upstream and downstream emission reductions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Deliverables

  • Develop, calibrate, and optimize models to project energy use, renewable integration, and emissions reductions.
  • Create compelling visualizations and technical reports to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise for work plan development, technical reviews, and delivery of high-quality outputs.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis and modeling to assess energy and climate scenarios using tools such as ICLEI’s ClearPath, EnergyPlus, GCAM, HOMER, PLEXOS, or other energy system and climate impact modeling platforms.

Strategic and Collaborative Roles

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and recommendations that support long-term climate and energy goals.
  • Lead stakeholder workshops to present findings and collaborate on actionable strategies.
  • Support business development efforts by writing proposals, participating in client interviews, and exploring new practice areas.
  • Project Management

  • Oversee project personnel, schedules, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project performance, ensuring quality control and alignment with objectives.
  • Anticipate and address long-term project challenges, coordinating effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Foundational Skills

  • A degree in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Energy, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two years of experience in consulting, data analysis, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or VBA Excel, with experience in building computational models.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to create public-facing reports.
  • Proven project management skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in energy and climate topics, such as greenhouse gas inventories, renewable energy finance, and energy modeling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI or similar visualization tools.
  • A background in engineering fields like electrical, mechanical, or energy systems.
  • Familiarity with energy modeling tools like PLEXOS, PROMOD, MARKAL, HOMER, or load forecasting models.
  • Experience in integrated resource planning or working with utilities.
