What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Blueberry Farm Assistant position at Blueyah Blueberry Farm?
We're a small, family-owned organic blueberry farm in rural Oxford, Iowa. We've been operating as a pick-your-own farm for the past 10 years.
We're looking for someone to greet and cashier for u-pick customers throughout the blueberry season, mid-June through July.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive at the farm 15 minutes before customers begin arriving to open up barn, put out signage, put out wheelchair ramp, clean and prepare the checkout table, fill drinking water dispenser, replenish cups and popsicles, check bathroom item supply levels
- Greet customers and orient them to the farm and the animals
- Supervise customer feeding of 2 llamas and 2 sheep
- Check out blueberry customers
- Communicate with farm owners daily about supply levels, appointment no-shows, and other concerns/needs as they arise
- Pull weeds in blueberry field as time allows
Ideal candidates
- are reliable, friendly, and communicate well with both owners and customers (very important!)
- love being outdoors in the summer and can tolerate summer heat (barn is not air conditioned)
- can lift 30 pounds

Pay: $11.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
