Role Description
This is a full-time role for an experienced personal injury Legal Assistant/Secretary. The position involves providing attorney with administrative assistance, preparing legal documents, e-filing, transcribing dictation, organizing case files, communicating with clients, scheduling appointments, opening and scanning mail, and handling follow-ups. This is a full-time on-site role, located in Chatham, NJ.
Qualifications
· At least 2 years' experience as a legal secretary/assistant in a New Jersey plaintiff personal injury firm is essential.
· Must have experience using dictation and transcription software.
· Must have experience with online court filing systems.
· Superior written and oral communication skills.
· Experience with legal documents and legal terminology is essential and familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
· Strong understanding of litigation management software systems (Smart Advocate a plus).
· Ability to type with a speed of at least 60 wpm with a high degree of accuracy.
· High attention to detail, especially proof-reading transcribed letters to ensure grammatically correct.
· High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
· Organized and able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
· Able to work independently but also as part of a team to ensure proper workflow.
· Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor to clients and co-workers.
