What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMA/MA position at BluMine Health?
The Full Time Certified Medical Assistant’s role is to provide primary care and wellness services for BluMine clients through a network of shared-site locations. The Full Time CMA will work both independently and collaboratively to assist in Occupational Medicine treatments and other primary care and wellness scenarios within their scope of work. Responsible for requests made by Providers within the CMA scope of work.
The Full Time CMA should demonstrate professional development and clinical competency; knowledge of medical procedures and processes within their scope of work, and help to ensure total patient care within the clinic setting. Patient satisfaction and clear concise communication to the patient and co-workers are key to the success of this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answers or refers inquiries.
- Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room; provides examination gowns and drapes; helps them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranges exam room instruments, supplies, and equipment for the Nurse Practitioner.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviews and/or records medical history; takes vital signs; confirms purpose of visit or treatment.
- Reports to Nurse Practitioner all patient medical history updates and status, as well as reason for current visit. Charts information appropriately.
- Refills prescriptions, via e-scribe or phone, as long as patient has been seen recently in the office and is responding well to medication with normal labs. NP will give standing orders for labs and medication refills.
- Calls patient on behalf of the Nurse Practitioner when labs are normal. Consults with Nurse Practitioner for script in the case of abnormal lab results.
- Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments; administers medications on the premises; draws blood; prepares patients for x-rays; takes electrocardiograms; removes sutures; changes dressings.
- Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions and answers patient questions.
- Completes records by recording / charting patient examination, treatment, and test results for any CMA appropriate visit.
- Attends flu shot and/or biometric events.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; places orders and verifies receipt.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; performs controls on all laboratory equipment; troubleshoots equipment breakdowns and follows manufacture instructions for repair if necessary; performs preventive equipment maintenance.
- Keeps injectable medication log updated. Scans to shared drive and sends copy to Practice Manager monthly.
- Keeps all QC logs updated. Scans to shared drive and sends copy to Practice Manager monthly.
· Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $19.21 - $20.19 per hour
