Brief Description
The Corporate Counsel is a dynamic position within the organization requiring an energetic, outgoing, sales and customer service focused attorney with strong legal and business acumen and a pragmatic approach to negotiation and problem solving. The Corporate Attorney is responsible for carrying out day-to-day legal affairs including but not limited to high volume and fast-paced commercial contracting primarily supporting sales team, providing timely legal guidance and support across several key departments, litigation support and management, and assisting with and taking lead on various short- and long-term projects and initiatives as needed.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 annual bonus

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leadership, sales, operations, HR, and finance teams to provide timely and practical legal advice on day-to-day operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts related to construction sales and operations, employment, materials, corporate services, and office leases.
- Identify potential risks and legal issues and explain contract terms, conditions, rights, and obligations to senior leadership, sales, operations, HR, and finance teams and provide legal advice and guidance with respect to the same.
- Review, interpret, and understand company obligations under its various contracts and arrangements.
- Maintain excellent customer relations when negotiating sales contracts, resolving project issues, and negotiating payment disputes.
- Assist in pre-litigation and litigation efforts including evidence gathering and analysis, legal research, discovery, pleading review, deposition prep, and management of select outside legal matters.
- Handle third-party subpoenas, contractor and licensing board inquiries and investigations, and assist with select employment matters.
- Collaborate with senior management to communicate and implement various legal and compliance policies, procedures, laws, professional standards, and government regulations.
- Work collaboratively and professionally with all members of the company, customers, vendors, and other third parties.
- Ensure approach to and handling of legal affairs aligns with company's core values.
- Demonstrate integrity, strong legal and business acumen, excellent customer service and leadership skills, and a positive, proactive, "can-do" attitude.
- This role has no direct reports but may be senior in command in various multi-departmental collaborative efforts related to a Legal/Risk function or task.
- Energy, enthusiasm, integrity, and a strong desire develop and grow within a rapidly expanding organization.
- Private sector law firm and/or in-house counsel experience required.
- Experience in construction is strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience in commercial litigation and trial practice strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience in commercial transactions and business law strongly preferred but not required.
- Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.
- Must be outgoing, collegial, and collaborative.
- Excellent customer service (internal and external) and organizational skills required.
- Must be able to quickly identify risks, balance competing interests, and provide appropriate advice.
- Must have sharp eye for detail with sound business judgment and a knack for coming up with creative solutions that move things forward.
- Ability to support and scale in a fast-growing organization.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice and in good standing in at least one state.
- Civil litigation with trial experience strongly preferred.
- Legal counsel to businesses, particularly service industry, strongly preferred.
- Occasional travel. (Less than 25% of the time.) Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for training or meetings.
