Title Director of Public Relations
Description The primary function of the Director of Public Relations is to implement communications
strategies aimed at improving district relationships along with understanding of district activities and support for district initiatives. The Director will generate and distribute district communications in multiple formats; engage in proactive media coverage; assist in managing special projects and events and support district crisis response communications. He/she will also work to ensure there is Parental-Community Engagement/Wrap Around Services//Special Projects. The Director will ensure the District Website is appealing, up-to-date and complies with all state regulations.
- Valid Arkansas teaching license with building-level administration certification (required)
- Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience (preferred)
- Master's Degree in Education Leadership or Communication (preferred)
- Utilizes various communications avenues to enhance an effective community relations campaign aimed at best engaging different stakeholders and facilitating effective two-way communication.
- Proactively develops relationships with internal stakeholders to promote and publicize district and school events, news and stories.
- Coordinates and/or manages the development of video communications to support district initiatives
- Facilitates routine positive media coverage of the many district, and school programs and events
- Monitors local state and national news related to educational issues.
- Demonstrates excellent project management skills including project planning, gaining consensus, managing change, managing milestones, project evaluation, project documentation, project implementation and sustaining project success.
- Assists in district event planning and coordination.
- Supports critical incident response, such as messages to parents and community.
- Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquires.
- Effectively represents the district in all forums and community relations activities
- Publicizes and promotes BSD activities and successes.
- Develops and maintains relationships with local media, including newspapers and electronic outlets.
- Assists in coordination of, and participates in, media interviews
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
