Job Description

BME Fire Trucks is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. As the EHS Manager, you would ensure that our production teams are as safe as can be so they can continue building the trucks that bring our frontline heroes home. You will be responsible for creating policies to keep the company compliant with environmental laws and reporting requirements. You will create policies and procedures to keep the workforce safe from health hazards and minimize risk to the company from potential health-related exposures. As EHS you will also be r esponsible for the creation of policies to keep the company in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards to create a safe work environment that limits the risk of enforcement penalties to the company.

Requirements :

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Compile and submit annual waste reports and document monthly manifests / invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste disposal protocols and conduct trainings with production staff as needed.
  • Compile and submit annual air quality-related usage reports.
  • Work with Purchasing, Inventory, and Production to document weekly usage reports for metals, abrasives, paints, and other environmentally related materials.
  • Conduct ongoing trainings with production staff to ensure compliance.
  • Work with Procurement and Maintenance to research and implement needed environmental systems for filtering air and waste as needed to meet compliance with permit.
  • Work with insurance provider or other industry partners to schedule, administer, and maintain records on health-related monitoring activities, including air quality, sound levels, and ergonomics.
  • Work with Procurement and Production to research and administer proper PPE for each work environment.
  • Work with insurance provider or other industry partners to schedule, administer, and maintain records on health-related training and testing activities, including respirator fit testing or hearing testing if determined necessary.
  • Meet with insurance provider to go over loss records to develop strategies to minimize safety hazards and injuries.
  • Chair the Safety Committee to continue developing the safety program and processes.
  • Work with HR to document, investigate, and record all reportable injuries and near-misses.
  • Flesh out and update the SDS repository.
  • Flesh out and update the site safety plan and maps.
  • Arrange and document safety-related trainings, including but not limited to rigging, confined space, and forklift certifications.
  • Maintain OSHA logs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of work experience and education
  • Able to use basic office equipment, including document copying and scanning
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly concisely both verbally and in writing.

  • Bonus Points :

  • Previous Environmental Compliance experience
  • Previous experience in production
  • Knowledge of the vehicle manufacturing industry.
