Discription
The qualified intern/Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
The student will be exposed to new product content, involved in projects, and engage in collaborative department work.Candidates will support the launch and change coordinators with activities to verify the bill of material and demand logic changes for vehicle production.
We will develop the student to lead their own process improvement projects. Activities will focus on further development and optimizing of data analytical systems to improve processes and reporting and direct support of the team steering new integration levels into launch and series product.
Contribute to Test Car BOM (Bill of Material) validation, where the new design changes are verified (i.e., the correct part is systematically steered to the correct vehicle)
Support the coordination of Line Trials, where new parts are physically tested in the production environment.
Report generation and maintenance including responsibility for communication and supporting topic resolution.
Implementing solutions to improve efficiency in the processesComplete various process mapping exercises (e.g., process flow, swim lane, etc.)Create content overview for different vehicle modules.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of how BMW processes and implements design changes into our plant, both at a detailed level and at a macro level.
- Exposure to our business partner’s processes, including logistics, production, design in Munich, etc. The student will gain experience contributing to a cross-functional international team.
- Develop their analytical and problem-solving skills. As they progress through their co-op rotations, they will have the potential to fully lead and steer their own projects. The student will be able to identify opportunities and develop their own ideas for how to improve our processes.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
- THE WORK TERM DATES ARE August 11th – December 12th, 2025.
Qualifications
Pursuing a BS or Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management, MIS (Management Information Systems), Computer Science or other relevant degrees.
