Description:
The VPS/Industrial Engineering Co-op will manage VPS initiatives, drive continuous improvement, 6S and problem solving, and work with all production areas within the Body Shop to find efficiencies and continuous improvement measures for the production line.
This is a co-pp position which requires you to commit to three rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: fall, 2nd rotation: summer, 3rd rotation: spring).
The qualified co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Support implementation and roll-out of new VPS and continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and vehicle launches.
- Analysis of production data such as cycle time and other KPI’s, and report results to management.
- Support Industrial Engineering time studies and production analysis workshops.
- Assist with Training Classes and develop new approaches to training the workforce on VPS principles.
- Participate in time studies and work station layout with different areas of production.
- Participate in creating standard operating sheets for production station processes.
- Support or lead other projects as needed to support production, such as cycle time improvements or other efficiencies.
- Create new templates for VPS, 6S, IE, and the BMW Work Organization as required and/or requested.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering (IE preferred).
- MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Problem Solving skills.
- Ability to train others.
- Project leadership skills.
- Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
- Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
- Must be an enrolled student during all three rotations.
- Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
- Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
- Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
- MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
- Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
