Job Summary: The Painter is responsible for performing internal and external commercial painting, wall covering installations $ repairs throughout the airport terminal & other facilities owned by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties:
- Mixes, matches, and blends various paints, enamels, lacquers, varnishes, stains and special protective coatings to achieve desired color, consistency, and drying properties.
- Inspects and prepares painting surface by washing, scraping, burning, sanding, sandblasting or other means as necessary in preparation of painting, staining or installing products to achieve a finished surface.
- Assists in a variety of maintenance and repair work on plant equipment including pumps, fans, gear boxes, chemical feed equipment, water lines, valves, belts, motors, generators, boilers, and the like.
- Caulks, putties, cements or plasters holes and cracks.
- Erects and uses ladders, scaffolding, and swinging state equipment as required.
- Paints buildings, structures, equipment, and furniture using brush, spray gun or other applicator.
- Prepares wall and hangs paper or other wall covering material.
- Determines quantities and requests supplies in writing.
- Cleans and stores tools and equipment and cleans work sites.
- Drives to various properties as required to perform job duties.
- Assists in performing preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, plumbing, and electrical fixtures and systems.
- Drives vehicles, including heavy equipment during inclement weather operations, and transports personnel, materials, and performs general building maintenance duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular on-time attendance.
- Follows all safety regulations.

- Painting: Knowledge of procedures and equipment of painting, to include calculating volumes, areas for variety of painting surfaces.

Qualifications:
Required:
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4 years experience in maintenance or construction related commercial painting.
- Valid CLASS D Driver's License.
- Secure ramp driving certification required (30 days upon hire).
Preferred:
- Post-secondary Vocational or related training.
- Military comparable or similar training.
