Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Utility Operator I (Steam Plant), supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will perform a variety of manual and technical work in a Steam Plant under general supervision.
Job Duties:
- May instruct and direct work of Utility Operator Interns
- Operates and services boiler and auxiliary equipment
- Regulates and controls flow of water to boiler
- Samples, analyzes and treats boiler water
- Makes periodic tour of inspection to observe, check and ensure efficient operation of equipment
- Direct and perform operator maintenance and repair work as required
- Coordinates work with other steam plant operators
- Operates and test emergency electrical apparatus
- Maintains shift operating log of steam plant operation equipment and other activities
- Instructs and directs lower grade personnel in operation of a steam plant
- Responsible for coordinating steam plant operations with test facilities
- Provide technical assistance and training for other Cooling Water Utility Operator Intern(s) as needed
- Responsible for ensuring general housekeeping of assigned areas is maintained
- Required to wear Company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform other related duties as required
- Responsible to immediate supervisor on matters relating to operation and operator maintenance of the steam plant, coordination with other stations and coordination of steam plant operations with test facilities
- It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
- Perform other duties as required
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four (4) years of progressive experience in the operation of steam plant equipment
- Must have thorough knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of boiler and auxiliaries and other boiler room equipment
- Must have a thorough knowledge of large water tube boilers and associated controls; boiler feed water treatment; principles of boiler efficiency; deaerators and auxiliary equipment
- Must be willing and able to work first, second, third, to include odd and weekend shifts
- Must be available to work overtime as required
- Must have working knowledge of computers
- Will participate in functional specific safety training and related environmental stewardship programs
- Must be able to read, write and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
- Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract
- U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
- Active secret clearance
- Self-motivating with a minimum of instructions from management on assignments
- Demonstrated leadership ability and good communication skills
