Job Title: Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Position Summary:
The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a competitive high school basketball program that emphasizes athletic excellence, academic achievement, sportsmanship, and character development. The coach will oversee all aspects of the boys varsity basketball team, including coaching, training, team selection, game strategy, and communication with parents, staff, and school administration.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices, conditioning sessions, and game strategies.

Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, tactics, and sportsmanship.

Build and maintain a competitive program that supports student-athlete development on and off the court.

Manage and supervise assistant coaches and ensure alignment with team philosophy.

Coordinate scheduling of games, practices, transportation, and use of facilities with the athletic department.

Monitor academic performance and ensure student-athletes maintain eligibility.

Promote positive communication among players, parents, coaching staff, and school officials.

Ensure compliance with school district policies, state athletic association rules, and safety regulations.

Participate in professional development, attend coaches' meetings, and represent the school in league and district events.

Serve as a role model, fostering discipline, leadership, accountability, and teamwork.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Previous high school or higher-level basketball coaching experience strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.

Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.

CPR/First Aid certification and NFHS coaching certifications (or ability to obtain).

Must pass background checks and meet all district and state employment requirements.
