The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.

Travel is minimal to none
This position is a highly technical role supporting BNSF in the ownership and enhancement of the company’s Activity Based Costing system. The successful candidate will lead the system's modernization, manage multiple projects, and interact effectively with business partners at all levels of the company.
Key responsibilities may include:
Lead and collaborate on projects by coding, implementing, and maintaining logic to improve costing methodologies, which accurately determine profitability for various marketing segments.
Develop tools and visual reports to provide profitability information that will inform decision-making within Marketing, Finance and Operations departments.
Interface with Technology Services department to provide requirements, test results, and verify changes before implementation into production processes.
Educate and work with team members in problem-solving techniques, computer skills, and applications.
Make presentations and provide recommendations on items affecting the costing system to senior leaders.
Daily work is conducted in a safety indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:
- Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
- Bachelor’s degree with preference in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Business, and/or equivalent formal training, certifications or work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an Information Technology environment or Business areas supporting IT functions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge and experience developing applications using SAS, SQL (Teradata, DB2, SQL Server), jQuery, and Microsoft .NET applications.
- Extensive experience in a Mainframe or Unix environment.
- Strong project management and time-management skills.
