Head of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) - Wealth Services Platform

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead and build a new SRE team specifically for the Wealth Services Platform at BNY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Fintech industry, having successfully built a team from the ground up, and possess deep knowledge in managing mission-critical, cloud-native platforms. This role is in Jersey City, NJ – ONSITE/HYBRID (4 days in-office)
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing Site Reliability Engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the SRE strategy and roadmap, aligning it with the overall goals of the Wealth Services Platform and BNY.
- Reliability and Performance: Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of the Wealth Services Platform by implementing best practices in monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
- Cloud-Native Platform Management: Oversee the deployment, operation, and optimization of cloud-native infrastructure, leveraging technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architectures.
- Incident Response: Lead the incident response process, including post-mortem analysis, to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and product management, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of services.
- Automation: Drive the automation of repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of human error.
- Continuous Improvement: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level objectives (SLOs) to measure and improve the reliability and performance of the platform.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the Fintech industry.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience in building and managing cloud-native platforms, utilizing technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or similar are a plus.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $100,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Salary : $100,000 - $205,000
