We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, External Communications to join our Communications team. This hybrid role is located in New York, NY.
As VP, External Communications, you will be part of a team focused on BNY’s external communications and campaigns in support of the enterprise.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll work with a team of communications professionals to make an impact in the following ways:
- Build successful external communications programs, with a core focus on external engagement in support of BNY’s corporate functions - Finance, People, Operations, Real Estate, Legal, Engineering, Strategic Investments & Partnerships, etc.
- Manage enterprise news flow, announcements or other projects in support of corporate priorities.
- Serve as a spokesperson for media inquiries related to various corporate matters, building relationships with national and trade journalists covering BNY.
- Craft communications content in support of campaigns, speaking engagements and interviews.
- Lead communications oversight for the company’s enterprise awards and events strategy.
- Work with team and partners to provide communications tracking, reporting and analytics for the function.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- 5 years of professional experience in media relations and corporate communications (combination of in-house and agency experience a plus)
- Demonstrated track record of excellence in developing and executing external communications and media relations for a large, publicly traded company (financial services or another heavily regulated industry preferred)
- Ability to counsel and collaborate with business partners, including senior executives, demonstrating a strong business acumen and sound judgement to lead high profile situations and cultivate trust.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines, juggle multiple priorities and execute flawlessly with great attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully drive initiatives from development to completion.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; reputation for honesty and integrity.
- Bachelor’s degree required.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $66,000 and $113,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Salary : $66,000 - $113,000
