COMPENSATION
Annual Minimum - Maximum : $150,000.00 - $177,000.00
The Environmental Compliance Director will direct and oversee programs and initiatives related to environmental health and safety compliance with a focus on mitigating risks and compliance. This role involves developing and maintaining new and current programs and policies to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Oversee the Environmental Compliance department.
- Partner with the Architecture and Engineering department to ensure project developments meet environmental health and safety (EHS) regulations.
- Manage all EHS compliance programs in the areas of occupational safety, air quality, water quality, waste management, hazardous materials, and land use.
- Manage all abatement related project work including identification of abatement needs, project bidding, management, and oversight.
- Monitor EHS regulatory developments, assess the impact to the organization's operations, and develop plans to ensure compliance before new regulations go into effect.
- Monitor Workers Compensation Injury data to identify trends and implement corrective action to reduce injury rate.
- Be a key participant in the organization's sustainability initiatives.
- Manage all stormwater related compliance, including the Construction and Municipal requirements that apply to our Parks and projects.
- Oversee the coordination of the attainment of all safety metric goals throughout the organization.
- Evaluate safety plan and compliance progress.
- Oversee the filing of required reports.
- Identify all current and potential environmental risks and take appropriate measures to eliminate or control them.
- Determine occupational safety and health training requirements, develop and deliver appropriate training for employees.
- Audit safety plan progress and compliance progress across the company.
- Maintain consistent involvement in specific safety or environmental concerns at all facilities.
- Respond to complaints, conduct investigations, and recommend solutions to minimize safety and health problems.
- Perform and present environmental analyses and develop business cases for projects.
- Direct planning and establishing of department schedules and follow up performance against estimates.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, government relations, and other teams to ensure awareness of the organization’s environmental initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Oversee the investigation of safety and medical-related incidences, provide assessments of environmental complaints, and establish preventative measures.
- Ensure that programs are in place to identify safety hazards and respond to complaints.
- Recommend new policies or procedures, as necessary.
- Oversee preparation and control of departmental annual budget.
- May represent the company in dealings with governmental officials enforcing environmental and safety regulations.
- Be responsible for overseeing the noted areas of Environmental Health and Safety as noted within the required experience section of this job description.
- Understand and remain abreast of Resource Agency Permitting requirements (ACOE, CDFW, RWQCB, USFWS).
- Select and hire employees for open positions. Provide performance management as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with employees and management.
