Position Overview

The Jewish Education Project seeks a highly motivated full-time Director of Technology who is a proactive, forward-thinking IT leader who thrives at the intersection of technology, data, and education. This is both a strategic and hands-on role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation and security in a Microsoft-centric environment. This role requires a collaborative, personable, and knowledgeable professional who can independently manage IT operations while aligning technology solutions with the organization's mission and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Infrastructure & Security

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud-based systems.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity practices/threat detection/risk mitigation; keep up with emerging trends.
  • Oversee software and hardware solutions to optimize efficiency and future-proof the organization’s technology landscape.

Microsoft Environment & AI Integration

  • Administer/optimize Microsoft 365, including Teams/SharePoint/OneDrive, and other collaboration tools.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to enhance workflows, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Stay ahead of Microsoft’s evolving ecosystem, ensuring best practices in deployment and security.

User Support, Training & Onboarding

  • Provide end-user support with a training-first mindset, helping staff maximize productivity with existing and emerging technology.
  • Lead IT onboarding for new employees, ensuring seamless setup and technology training.
  • Develop and implement user-friendly training materials; conduct workshops to improve staff digital fluency.

Network & Communication Systems

  • Maintain and improve Zoom and other communication platforms to support seamless virtual/hybrid meetings.
  • Manage (A/V) setups for events, ensuring high-quality video conferencing and in-person tech experiences.
  • Oversee IT networking, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring optimal system performance.

Subscription & Vendor Management

  • Track and manage the organization’s software and hardware subscriptions, licenses, and renewals.
  • Research, purchase, and deploy new equipment and tools, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with user needs.
  • Maintain an accurate IT inventory, ensuring timely updates and replacements as needed

IT, Data, and Online Learning Intersection

  • Support the organization's data and fiscal strategy, ensuring IT systems integrate effectively with data management, fiscal and analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with program teams to enhance online learning platforms, ensuring IT infrastructure supports digital education initiatives.
  • Identify and implement IT solutions that improve the efficiency of program delivery and user engagement.

Experience, Qualifications, and Competencies
  • Candidates with diverse cultural, educational, and experiential backgrounds are urged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field - or equivalent education, training and/or work experience.
  • 5 years of IT leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or small-team environment.
  • Expertise in Microsoft 365, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and network administration.
  • Strong knowledge of AI-driven tools and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with Zoom, A/V setups, and communication platforms.
  • Ability to train and support staff with diverse technical abilities.
  • Experience managing software licenses, vendor relationships, and IT procurement.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in online learning platforms and data systems preferable.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit IT needs, including grant-related technology requirements a plus.
  • Certifications in IT security, Microsoft, or related fields (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CISSP) desirable.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary in the range of $120,000 - $140,000 depending on experience.
  • Three weeks paid time off in year 1; increasing incrementally on a set schedule.
