The Village of Bradley, Illinois Board of Police Commissioners is accepting applications for the position of lateral entry police officer with the Bradley Police Department.
Starting Two-Year Lateral Officer Base Salary: Currently $84,593.60, increasing to $87,131.20 as of 05/01/2025 (Does not include Holiday Pay, Education/Military Service Stipend, Shift Differential, POWER Test Stipend nor Clothing Allotment)
Sworn Police Officers: 37
Population: 15,232 (2022 census)
All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Bradley, Illinois Board of Police and Fire Commissioners:
- U.S. Citizenship and/or legal permanent resident of the United States;
- No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants from further consideration);
- Possess a valid state-issued driver's license;
- Must have at least two (2) years experience employed as a full-time police officer in another jurisdiction (NOTE: Part-time certification does NOT meet this requirement);
- Must be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board. Out of State applicants must provide documentation that they have filled the requirements of their training boards and that they are certified as a full-time law enforcement officer for their jurisdiction;
- Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent;
- Must successfully complete an oral interview and background investigation (applicants will be required to fully disclose all personal matters, to include agreements and sealed files);
- Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation, polygraph examination or voice stress analysis, and medical screening (including drug and alcohol screening);
- Successful Completion of BPD Field Training Program;
- Establish area residency within 35 miles and 6 months from end of probation;

- Social Security card
- Birth certificate
- High school diploma (or transcripts) or G.E.D. equivalent
- Law Enforcement Officer Certification
- College transcripts or diploma, if applicable
