Responsibilities :
Provide strategic legal advice to clients on a wide range of labor law issues, including employee rights, labor relations, collective bargaining, and workplace policies. Ensure clients comply with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
Lead negotiations between clients and labor unions. Develop and implement negotiation strategies, draft collective bargaining agreements, and address issues related to contract enforcement and interpretation.
Manage and resolve labor disputes, including grievances, arbitration, and mediation. Represent clients in disputes related to union activities, contract violations, and employee complaints.
Oversee and handle labor-related litigation, such as wrongful termination, discrimination, and wage and hour disputes. Develop case strategies, conduct legal research, and represent clients in court or arbitration proceedings.
Advise clients on the development and implementation of workplace policies and practices, including employee handbooks, codes of conduct, and safety procedures. Ensure policies are compliant with labor laws and best practices.
Conduct audits and assessments to ensure clients' labor practices comply with relevant laws and regulations. Identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions to address compliance issues.
Develop and deliver training programs for clients on labor law topics, including union relations, employee rights, and legal compliance. Keep clients informed about recent legal developments and their implications.
Assist clients with long-term labor relations strategies, including workforce planning, organizational changes, and union avoidance or management strategies. Provide guidance on labor market trends and their impact on the clients' business.
Lead and mentor a team of junior lawyers, associates, and paralegals specializing in labor law. Delegate tasks, review work, and provide professional development opportunities to ensure high-quality legal services.
Drive the growth of the firm's labor law practice by networking, building client relationships, and engaging in marketing activities. Participate in industry events, contribute to publications, and develop new business opportunities.
Maintain high ethical standards in all legal practices. Ensure compliance with professional conduct rules and address any ethical issues that arise in the course of practice.
Provide regular updates and reports to clients on the status of legal matters, strategic recommendations, and changes in labor law. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, regulatory agencies, and the court.
