Position Overview
Summary
The purpose of this position is to weld trailer components using the Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding technique to create
precise, smooth, continuous seams with an eye for detail and a focus on meeting and exceeding the company’s quality
standards.
Essential Functions
Use MIG welding technique to weld trailer components, including processes such as gas metal arc, plasma arc, and
shielded metal arc.
Safely use and operate welding gear and equipment.
Examine workpieces for defects, blemishes and quality; notify supervisor of any concerns and perform repairs as
needed.
Use measuring tapes, combination squares, and levels to lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly.
Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion,
or expansion of material.
Operate overhead cranes.
Sign off on completed work orders and quality of work.
Maintain, organize and clean workstation and equipment.
Ensure all actions are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Complete other duties and cross-training activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two (2) to four (4) years of MIG welding experience preferred
Specialized Knowledge
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding
Knowledge, recognition and use of hand and power tools
Experience with plasma cutting
Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications
Competencies
Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and job duties
Willingness and ability to learn new skills
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team
Ability to cooperate with leadership, teammates, and departments
Willingness to help where and when needed, beyond the scope of normal day-to-day duties
Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to read and interpret written instructions
Physical Requirements
Ability to see small details at close range
Ability to quickly move your hands, arms, or fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
Balance and flexibility, with an ability to safely navigate over and around equipment and tools
Ability to work in varied positions (e.g., overhead, flat, and vertical work)
Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and squatting
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Occupational Conditions
Manufacturing facility – must comply with all safety regulations and PPE requirements (e.g., gloves, face shields, steel
toe shoes, safety glasses)
Exposure to hot and cold temps for long periods of time
