We are seeking an experienced Accounting Controller to join our dynamic team at a growing marine dealership with multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, reconciliation, and financial management, with a proven ability to lead and develop a team. Dealership experience is preferred, as this role requires familiarity with inventory management, financial controls, and industry-specific accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconciliation and Reporting:
- Oversee and manage all account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Analyze and resolve discrepancies in financial data and reports.
Staff Management:
- Lead and supervise the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Establish workflows and best practices for the team to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, fostering professional development and growth.
Journal Entries and Financial Transactions:
- Oversee the posting and review of all journal entries.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to internal controls.
- Monitor daily financial transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop budgets and financial forecasts.
- Track performance against budgets and recommend adjustments as needed.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Coordinate audits and prepare necessary documentation for external auditors.
System and Process Optimization:
- Evaluate and implement accounting systems and software to streamline operations.
- Ensure efficient integration of financial processes across multiple dealership locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in a dealership environment is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
