Engineer 4 – Sr. POS Systems
POSITION REPORT TO: Sr Manager - Applications Development & Support
POSITION LOCATION: Bob Evans Restaurant Support Center New Albany, Ohio
Statement of Purpose:
The Sr. POS Systems Engineer will perform complex duties in the development, installation, integration, administration, and maintenance of restaurant-related applications. This role provides input into strategic vision and serves as a primary contributor for complex IT Restaurant initiatives. The Sr. POS Systems Engineer is a key resource on IT Restaurant implementations, upgrades, and migrations, solving significant business problems through innovative application of Information Technology Solutions. This is a lead position responsible for providing expertise and leadership to the POS team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of Aloha POS systems/services to ensure high system availability.
- Develop and utilize standard processes for Aloha POS systems/service implementation and maintenance, minimizing the impact on customer service and providing adequate backup/recovery capability.
- Ensure timely delivery of new capabilities such as tokenization and BSL API usage.
- Develop and utilize processes for monitoring the performance of Aloha POS systems and take corrective actions when necessary. Generate management reports as required.
- Contribute to the development of and utilize processes for problem determination, ensuring maximum systems/services availability and enhancing the productivity of staff members.
- Utilize change management standards and processes to ensure maximum customer service and enhance the productivity of staff members.
- Work with third-party vendors to ensure their systems meet SLA agreements.
- Provide escalation support for all Aloha POS systems in your area of responsibility.
- Participate in and/or lead key initiatives related to Aloha POS solutions.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to analyze business requirements and develop scalable, strategic, and costeffective solutions to meet specific business challenges.
- Participate in the evaluation of new IT Restaurant solution sets to augment existing capabilities.
- Serve as a key resource in the deployment of IT Restaurant solutions in-line with established change control procedures and in partnership with associated operational and applications teams.
- Provide high-level technical support for restaurants, occasionally including after-hours.
- Identify automation opportunities to streamline the interaction of tools and infrastructure to maximize efficiency of processes and operational, infrastructure, and application resources.
- Provide guidance and assistance to other IT staff members in the usage of Aloha POS systems.
- Mentor junior POS developers and CFC Analysts to provide leadership and career development.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in NCR Aloha POS Systems.
- Proven experience in working with all phases of the IT development lifecycle.
- In-depth knowledge of Aloha POS, Configuration Center (CFC), Command Center (CMC), Aloha Take Out (ATO), Aloha Kitchen (AK), Aloha Connected Payments required.
- Strong working knowledge of restaurant hardware/accessories such as POS Terminals, POS Servers, Pin Pads, Printers, Scanners, Cash Drawers etc.
- Expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Aloha POS systems (Version 15.xx and higher).
- Proficiency in SQL for data retrieval, manipulation, integration, aggregation, and analysis. Ability to use SQL to extract meaningful insights from large datasets, support decision-making, and optimize performance.
- Knowledge of (NCR Back Office) is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and associated security best practices, including encryption, secure authentication, and maintaining secure network architecture.
- Above-average networking skills.
- Knowledgeable about Punchh, OLO, NCR BSL API and Tokenization
