What are the responsibilities and job description for the BJA Middle School Director of Academics position at Bob Jones Academy?
POSITION SUMMARY: Promote student learning at the middle school by mentoring teachers in their teaching effectiveness and overseeing student academic planning and progress.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Results Area #1 Create and develop an effective role as instructional coach for teachers
- Encourage teachers in implementing best practices for student learning in areas such as the Marzano instructional strategies, technology, and classroom manipulatives
- Lead teacher professional development including through professional learning communities, external training opportunities
- Foster a strong, collaborative, and continual improvement of the middle school’s curriculum map as part of the K–12 expected student outcomes
- Maintain teaching experience through regularly teaching one middle school course
- Develop resources to assist teachers in differentiated instructions
Key Results Area #2 Create and develop an effective role as academic advisor for current and prospective students and their parents
- Manage testing (admission-related testing and annual standardized testing) and student scheduling and placement
- Oversee student academic progress throughout the year, including, as needed, assessing needs, coaching teachers, meeting with students, and meeting with parents as needed
- Evaluate data from standardized testing to determine areas for growth
- Participate in other middle school support roles, such as the support committee (student discipline committee)
- Communicate the religious beliefs of BJA to students and student affiliates
- Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine, and creed of BJA to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJA.

Certificates & Licenses:
