Job Goal: To update, maintain, and transfer student records.

 

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  3. Experience and/or training in computer operations.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports To: Principal or designee

 

Background Check Required:  (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5)-Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Background checks must not be more than 10 years old.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to plan and organize effectively.
  2. Basic knowledge, skills, and ability to operate computer programs and related technology.
  3. Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
  4. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  5. Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of the school system's rules and policies, administrative procedures, and state and federal rules and regulations as they relate to student records.
  8. Physical and emotional ability to work in a fast-paced, intense environment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Prepares and maintains cumulative records on each enrolled student.
  2. Evaluates transcripts of incoming students in order for the counselor to better advise students as they enroll.
  3. Requests transcripts for all new students and responds to requests for transcripts for current and former students.
  4. Updates student records including posting of grades and personal information.
  5. Responds to requests from appropriate agencies for student related information.
  6. Prepares the senior graduation list with class rank and averages.
  7. Performs duties related to computerized scheduling, grading, and attendance of students.
  8. Requests, prepares, maintains, and sends all reports and records for students enrolling or withdrawing.
  9. Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment as may be assigned.
  • This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
  • Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Expected Employment: 187 days/ 8 hrs. (full year)

Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.

 

Salary Range: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year).  Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
