POSITION SUMMARY : An assistant to support our BJA music program.
This 9-month GA position is available only to those pursuing post-graduate studies at Bob Jones University.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : This Graduate Assistant would be assisting with ES Band / Brass, assisting MS and HS weekly sectionals, and some administrative tasks (registrations, securing chaperones for events, Flag Raising planning, caring for the instrument inventory, ordering, etc.). This person (if qualified) could also run Friday rehearsals to enable assistance with the Symphony Orchestra.
Typical tasks :
- Coordinate instrument pickup / delivery for repairs
- Handle concert program / website design / printing
- Assist in tracking / updating high school, middle school, elementary school, and university schedules
- Communication with Spirit Squad for events
- Assist in classroom setup / teardown
- Assist in stage setup / teardown
- Assist in percussion instrument maintenance
- Manage classroom during playing tests / seating auditions
- Manage / assist with percussion equipment moves
- Track instrument inventory
- Assist in teaching young beginners
- Lead sectional rehearsals and coach small ensembles
- Coordinate community performances
- Organize travel details
- Ordering music from vendors
- Uploading receipts and invoices
- Assist in Spring Semester instrument fittings and aptitude testing
- Prepping music folders
- Printing / copying
- Band concert promotional materials
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
