POSITION SUMMARY : Day-to-day accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Sales / Use Tax for BJU Press Business Office.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performing accounting functions of the BJU Press Business Office
- Learning and working with new software and system implementations
- Assisting with sales / use tax calculations and filing of tax returns for all states
- Staying current with tax laws to keep BJU Press compliant
- Maintaining tax email box and responding to customer tax inquiries
- Updating customer tax certificates
- Handling the monthly tax certificate update reminder emails
- Resolving sales / use tax assessments and preparing for and working with auditors
- Acting as liaison between BJU Press and state sales tax departments
- Overseeing and assisting in filing of annual reports with Secretaries of State and filing business licenses
- Assisting with accounts payable functions; entering invoices and selecting for payment
- Assisting with and reviewing costing and balance sheet accounts
- Reconciling monthly bank card statements and processing for payment
- Communicating effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers
- Assisting with accounts receivable functions; including processing all types of payments on account
- Assisting with accounts receivable problems that arise in D365
