What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary STEM Teacher/Child Care Instructor and Supervisor position at Bob Jones University?
POSITION SUMMARY: Team teach STEM class for 1st-5th grade during the school day. Train and Supervise BJU Education majors and their work in a childcare setting. Plan and organize activities for 1st-5th graders in after school childcare.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Teach STEM Program
- Organize tasks and materials for STEM Projects
- Teach 3 classes a day
- Demonstrate classroom management skills
- Effectively incorporate a positive behavior system
- Supervise and train BJU student workers
- Interview and hire university student employees for after-school childcare
- Train workers in classroom management and behavior system
- Create weekly work schedules
- Supervise After School Childcare for Students
- Create and organize activities
- Provide a loving, safe, Christ-honoring environment
- Communicate care and concerns with parents
- Point students to God’s Word as conflicts arise
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Organizational Skills
- Time Management
- Counseling and discipleship abilities
- Communication and customer relations skills
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Experience with elementary-aged children preferred.
- Teaching license preferred
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Word
- Must be comfortable in a digital environment and able to learn the school management systems
