SUMMARY: A resident assistant is an undergraduate student employed to lead the peers on his hall by patterning biblical discipleship and pursuing biblical disciple-making.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pattern daily fellowship with God through His Word and personal prayer
- Pattern weekly involvement in a local church and outreach (through local church ministry or other ministry)
- Evidence a desire to be discipled
- Personally submits to the expectations of Bob Jones University
- Look out for the well-being (spiritually and otherwise) of the students on his hall
- Evidence a heart for disciple-making
- Commit to meet with group leaders and your assistant group leader every week
- Personally own and convey the mission and discipleship philosophy of BJU
- Exhort and confront
- Encourage biblical meditation, prayer and involvement in the local church
- Provide a presence by sitting at the RA desk to minister to students, welcome guests, and ensure security of the residence hall
- Provide accountability through daily duties (late-night sign-in, goodnights, etc.)
- Provide graciously firm accountability on and off campus by enforcing with demerit university policy
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
