What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Clinical Adjunct Instructor position at Bob Jones University?
Summary: Supervise, teach, and evaluate undergraduate students in local clinical sites. Provide student instruction from a Christian worldview for various undergraduate courses that have a clinical component; advise students concerning academic matters; and perform service duties as needed within the division or academic school.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take students to clinical sites and supervise and teach based on the requirement of the course needs
- Teach assigned clinical courses (including class preparation, grading, and other related teaching activities)
- Maintain course syllabi in current status and post them on the intranet
- Maintain thorough and current faculty portfolio
- Maintain regular posted office hours to be available to students
- Continuously monitor research and trends to make recommendations concerning program and course updates
- Support activities related to the academic school and/or division
- Committed to personal professional development
- Participate in appropriate professional organizations
- Opportunity of attending chapel and special convocations
- Opportunity of participation in faculty/staff meetings and division meetings
- Administer student clinical evaluations
- Adhere to guidelines outlined in the Academic and Faculty/Staff Handbooks
- Adhere to the guidelines of the Nursing Student Handbook and Nursing Faculty Handbook.
- Communicates the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
- Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Possess knowledge of teaching field
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills in the classroom and inter-personally with students
- Demonstrate organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management
- Integrate biblical principles and subject matter
- Exemplify a biblical role model for students and colleagues
- For clinical instruction (minimum requirement): Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- For classroom instruction (minimum requirement): Master’s degree in area of teaching
- Terminal degree preferred
- Minimum two years experience
- Experience must be in the area of clinical instruction and/or classroom instruction
